These things are either true or they aren't, and people are paying the Washington Post good money to clear up that ambiguity for them.

Do people really pay for newspapers to "clear up [...] ambiguity?" Do newspaper expect to be read for that reason? I don't think so. Personally, I read it because it is entertaining.
